Selectors make use of the Standard of Excellence when selecting animals.
This is the minimum standard for selection according to appearance and performance. The particular value of the Standard of Excellence in the development of the breed is easily recognised in the uniformity and general appearance of the Drakensberger.
Become a Selector!
To become a selector, one need to attend a junior selector course and pass a theoretical and practical exam. As learner selector you need to take part in three selection tours with a senior selector and receive positive reports for al three tours to be recommended as Junior selector.
Then as Junior selector you need to take part in three more tours with a senior selector and receive positive reports to be recommended as Senior selector.
